A shot stayed in mind from Ramayana.. the Angy Rama ready to shed his anger on the sea god Varuna who doesn't hear his prayer for help ...the shot comes in Ramayana before the Vanaras started building the bridge to Lanka..

the story goes like..Varuna comes with apologies and helps them to make bridge easier...

This shot stayed back in mind for a long time after reading Ramayana..

Lost and Lonely

This one, I dedicate to my girl who lives too far from my reach ...... No big words attached to this post..but a few strong emotions...

Take a look and try to feel..that's the instructions for my viewers....

Lost and lonely......

And well, here's my Walk through to the final image as usual....

Started with a midtone filled brown canvas.... Using a low opacity brush painted in some spots where i need my lights to fall and reflect ... a slight motion blur filter on top gave me a good effect...

Roughly drew the main elements ..with a 50% opacity brush and black colour... mouse is ,as i always say, the hardest thing when u r drawing...

Worked on the details of the bush in the shore... it was nothing but the default leaf-brush-preset in photoshop.. played with various sizes and brush's angles ... ..merged the whole black parts to a new layer and turned it upside down to make the reflection... yeah, true, u r thinking right ...added motion blur ...

Same brush on the tree..went roughly..when i finished, duplicated the layer and put it with a darken-layer blend mode over the previous one with a slight Gaussian blur :).. it can't be so sharp in fog ..ha ha

Nothing but detailing..detailing and detailing

Well..merged the final image...added my secret filter.. lol ..from the artistic menu ... for the overall painting effect... and i'm into my favorite tool.... Hue/saturation.. this is where i always fix the mood of my drawings...

.a bit of level adjustment..a few touches on the curve tool and i'm done.. last part is signing my name underneath ...

Absinthe- The Green Witch

*Absinthe - If you don't know what it is, Google is at your service! This is a concept i took from a sketch of my friend Tarun. When the first time i saw this, i told him I'll paint it green..now i got the time and i worked on it.... btw, those who knows my favorite color is green might laugh, but i think this is the best color for this image .wot say?

This is the first step. I have already stolen the concept from Tarun months ago.. this was my basic sketch on paper to begin photoshopping!

Dark green fill and highlights of green with a big low opacity brush...

painted the foreground roughly...no time for detailing..just added a few lightrays to define where the light should be coming from and where the shadows should fall...

Time to start painting the Green flame.... just a few dots of different green shades blended with smudge tool did the trick ...

Painting the Witch...no green involved..just trying to get it the real human skin tone....

Time for detailing.. took a small brush and dark and light shades to paint in the details ,shadows and highlights...

More detailing.....and added a little greenish tint to everything in there...

Well, it's all 2D now.. where's the depth... I almost forgot the 3D -ness of things.... well, what else i can do than adding something like a few pillars to show depth and blur !!!!

Yeah-u think right... just copy-pasted the first pillar and resized ... ! ..added a bit more high lights and shining of green to everywhere i thought necessary...

Done!!!!! I'm satisfied after doing some color correction and sharpen/blur/dodge/burn tools on the final image... nw, it's your turn to comment....

Photoshop gimmicks continues......

Another photoshop painting. I donno how the concept came to mind ...but when i drew it on paper ,i really wanted to work on it with photoshop. So, there gone my weekend ...but think it was worth spending two days.. wot u guyz think, any suggestions to improve? i knew my works sucks when it comes to detailing..but this time i've tried a lil more detail than usual...lemme know u'r comments... i've put a walk through of 'how i did it' with the pic ... hope u'd enjoy it ....

Here's where i started .... charcoal ,colour pencils and plain paper :)

Then started seting the main colour tone and mood of the scene in photoshop with a huge 5% opacity brush .....:)

Drew the main elements ...the girl and the portal ..... with mouse .. (uh, wish i had a tablet! mouse sucks while drawing directly on screen)

A bit more detailing ..then i avoided the girl and went into the portal (Zoom in) to do the detail with a 2 px low opacity brush :D... my whole Saturday gone with this part..

After the cleaning up and detailing of the portal, i started working on a piece of land whenre the girl should stand... i loved the look of the portal so locked the layer so that i wouldn't go in for more detail and mess it up as usual :D

More cleaning up ...detailing..some textures to the land..adding a few smoke tails and detail to the rock pieces.... still the girl's costume looked too bright asif she was from some stupid detergent advertisement :)

Final touches.... by this time i merged most of the layers and the went in with the brush and smudge/sharpen toold to do the rest..adding some depth ,i call it :) ... also put some dirt and shadow on the girl's pure-white costumes... and now i am happy!! :)

Well, the final image comes out. a singlelayer.. the last part was colour manipulation... i really wanted the image to be a bit darker and the portal to look a bit more hot.. adding a bit of red tint did the trick and pulling some points in the curve editor gave me more dark/bright balance ..and i stopped working on it..... satisfied. happy. :)

well, nw waiting to hear what u guys think and what more i could add .....

Well, my first full length 2D film.. Me and my friend kish developed a small story and some triangular designs on paper.. then i made the whole thing on flash.. was a tough try since i had only a lil bit of knowledge in flash from reading flash 5.0 help files ... but, i guess it's no that bad while it came out ... the thing u r watching is a screen capture because after finishing the animation, i got some troubles making it movie file.. so had to render in flash itself and capture the screen.. and defenitely, that's the reason at some places the movements seems a lil jerky... anyway,i'm much satisfied with my first 2D experiment... waiting for comments and crit!!! so, chop off friends!! :)

Warrior Out From the Sewer!

This is ..well, still un-named. he is out from the Sewer. The poor guy had been working in a sewer for a long long time, was clueless about the war happened on the surface of earth and that killed everyone he loved. now he is back in the world, a man who got nothing to lose, his tools are his weapons.. he is all set for the battle...

M.O.S - The Moon Of Saturn

M.O.S is my new character. Here's his design and plot of his story. lemme know what u think abt it...

Code Name M. O. S is the loyal soldier of the Solar system. The Solarsystem in M.O.S (The Moon Of Saturn )'s story is a parliment, With SUN as the Prime Minster and other 9 members. I'm not gonna tell the whole story of M.O.S, but this is theplot and concept for my lil Hero. He is the son ( in solar system, the relationship is known as moon) of Old war/Defence minister Mr. Saturn. There are aliens (still unknown to us) living in all the 9 planets and they have their own civilizations Whenever there occurs a riot , terrorism or any kind of prolems inside a planet,they call M.O.S for help. These are internal threats that M.O.S usually handles with ease and he has becomethe most trust worthy soldier of the entire solar system. M.O.S became well known as the most powerful defender of the planets. But....

Yeah, the usual 'but..' that add suspence to every Main Villain's Entry! But,This time ,the enemies are not aliens.. they are more powerful. they are some other planets from Another Galaxy. Their Weapons are Powerful Plasma Bolts and Meteors.And their Leader is powerful enough to swallow the entire solar system .. His name was Heuzon, The Twin brother of SUN, thrown out from the solar system before centuries. He has became a Black hole now... powerful enough to grab anything including light into his depths..

So, MOS is in trouble. he is all set to go for the ultimate war.. He has his Guns,( Defenitely not powerful enough to try on Mr. Blackhole Heuzon ), And his Flying Co-Bike with all the gadgets. well, when u have a doubt with the word Co-bike. We call it a Co-bike, When someone modify a comet into a bike ( use ur imagination, i'll post mine soon ). and his lil cute friend Lil Astro. Lil Astro doesn't fall in the category of Asteroids and cant be added in the list of star-dusts. his size and properties are not yet defined. let's say one of a kind, but he surely wants to be an asteroid .He is the best friend and sidekick and ofcourse the biggest fan of M.O.S. well, time to start the quest..

Lemme know what u think abt this lil concept and character. It is another Bus-concept. As usual ,this too came to me while

sitting in a bus...

This is my first venture in the NEW YEAR ...

A quick idea. we were cleaning up the room, so the room was empty. my friend manju started taking snaps of all with his phone. suddenly an idea came to mind. Just took a pencil and pad, scribbled a storyboard.. Actors are room mates....Camera man me ..and a lil work in photoshop... comic ready . go through the first draft and lemme introduce them ...

Paper and Black Inkpen - A slight change from Digital art.

This means , i got my old sketch book back when i came home for Xmas vaccations.. ! here's a slight change - some works done in paper with a black gel pen. (only the blurrs in the background is digital,cant avoid that !) . i am planning to paint it in photoshop but thought of giving the originals in the blog.. tell me i have to improve my anatomy observation..i am expecting that comment.. he he !!

I am a diehard UT fan ( yep, the unreal tournament ) and my favorite level is the last man standing fights. Now imagine what is the inspiration behind this pic.

Inspired by a quote that didn't leave my mind after watching Pixars Incredibles. And i am Knight rescuing princess stories right from my childhood. Knights are always brave..but why should their hourses be?

A Defeted cowboy. well, the focus was on the guy sitting... and ofcourse that fight was'nt a real cowboy fight.. cheated and defeated.. u can see he doesn't even have a weapon..clothes...but just his hat..the pride of a cowboy...but i really want to draw the next frame of this action.. as he looking up at the gun taking his hat and placing it proterly with a smile ...a tribute to Saddam Hussain . i don't love that guy ..but something provokes me to stand on his side if a choice comes !

Boink - A sidekick for santaclause

OK, here he comes . expect him on the back seat of Santa's sleigh on this Christmas. u may not know this guy. I'll tell u about him...

Brain… Thoughts… Well, that’s what made him unique… made him Santa’s Best buddy and Helper. Well, The same brain … is his curse… You can’t imagine how hard it is to live a whole year among those stupid brainless toys waiting for Christmas! Oh, did I introduce this guy? His name is ‘Boink’

Let’s see what he can do

Boink’ is so flexible. Unlike other toys, he don’t need anybody’s help to move. Boink’ has got his own potential energy that makes him ‘boing’ ‘boing’ and ‘boing’ around on his spring.

As I mentioned earlier,Boink’ has got his own (little) brain. That makes him Santa’s dearest assistant who takes care of toys and gifts while Santa is preparing for his long (?) one-night trip. (Well, Boink’ says since he was born as a toy, he knows the psychology of Children, and that makes him a great Organizer of gifts – I think we can consider that too, shall we?)

Well, one more feature (my personal favorite) for Mr.Boink’ is … hmmm… I guess you can take a look at the bottom of his pic once again.. I can’t tell you what all he can take out from that box… gifts, toys, chocolates, football, cannon ball, parachute, minigun, Nuke, Scud missile, space shuttle…. just Imagine, no limits!

That’s all about Mr.Boink’. His greatest dream is sitting on Santa’s sleigh, fly over the clouds, watching the beauty around.

And what will he do when Christmas night is over? He goes back to the toy shelf in North Pole and wait till next Christmas.

Hmmm... You think so??

As i mentioned. 'personal favorites' . may be u'll find a lot of faults, but these were some stepping stones fro me ..

My first ever attepmt to make a cartoonic BG in 3Ds max. was planning to imitate Boo's room from monster's inc ..finally took me to this climax .

Titles 'Follow me into a solo' . a kinda inspired by the designs in 'nightmare before christmas' . i'm a diehard fan of that movie for their stylization and composition of each frame. this is done in 3Ds Max only.. a pretty old work while i was a student..

Smoky Hall - an old stuff, done in 3Ds max!

Well, this ain't something 'good-to-be-shown' but i love this. just because this was my first work in 3Ds max.

This is Crazy..well, if u think so, i'm satisfied! this, my friends.. was the Final design of an interior designer ! Call it 'Blood flowers on wallz'

Gateway to Freedom. the concept came to me from Gladiator, one of my all-time-fav movie. and the textures must tell u, if u r a 3D atrist of any kind, it's done in 3Ds max. well, it was an old work, i tried lighting before i was taught lighting in 3D max in the course- an experiment, but i love it!

This has got some specific intentions. one- a relief from my usual blue-black shades. two- it was born out of some fury against some old traditions and superstitions. three- well, u dont want to know . The titile is ' Bond in Her Superstitions' . i think that explains .

Well, here are some very early works of mine ..mostly in photoshop... some might contain 3D elements ( defenitely,harmless) ..please go through and give me comments ..

Rama- was a concept art. sketched in flash and painted in photoshop. it's like a rebirth .. a rising up.. well, something came out from my fed up mood that day!

An attempt to fake the Matrix logo in photoshop.. that's what u see in the pic. if u ask me hw i got those chinese alphabet, i must confess i got that by accdentally opening a .jpeg image in notepad !! lol!! try that !
A collage , That's kate winslet's eye, i took from a high res photo (thanks to skin.be) and everything else was from more than 30 pics.. added some photoshop tricks..got into this finally.
This one was done in paper, with charcoal. it's for the memory of the first night i spend with my girlfriend.. well, u r right.. it was the same wonderful moonlit night in a balcony,lol! i had to take it into photoshop to add some contrast and a lil blue tint .
This is a replication of a scene i saw in a flash animated music video. but nothing copied except the scene. i drew it in flash.. everything else is photoshop .

Well, this was my first attempt to a digital painting.. took 4 days with the help of an online tutorial and so many new brush patterns i created on the way.. atlantis-the ancient city took by the ocean.
